The DIVA Pageant               

 

In December 2006, K.Y.D.S held it's first event, The Diva Pageant,  an exhibition based soley on confidence, and values.This year we are back with the Bi-annual Diva  pageant.

Congratulations to our newest DIVAS who will compete on November 22 for the DIVA Crown. Please be sure to come out and support our 8 young ladies who are making their mark in the world!

Meet Dominque, our dancing diva.

17 years old, attends Central High School, aspires to study choreography in college. Doesn't believe in following the in-crowd.



Porsha, our comedic diva

17 years old, attends Sci-tech, wants to be a

coroner and a make up artist. A natural comedian.

 

 




Yana',our hip-hop diva

14 years old, attends Van Sickle Middle School

Likes dancing and stepping, but her true goal ,to be

a model.

  Lori-anna, our poetic diva

17 years old, attends Sci-tech,  straight to

the marines after school. A poet with plenty speak

about.

Jesce, our singing Diva. She 13 years old, attends

Van Sickle Middle School. She is inspired by

Fergie, and has a smile that lights up a room.

 



Brianna, our scholarly Diva. 15 years old attends

New Leadership Charter School. Shy, but elegant

and composed.

 


 

And Hycinth, our out of town diva. She attends

Hartford Middle Magnet School in CT. She loves

cheerleading and band.

2007 DIVA

 

 

Trisha Hutchinson-

"Miss Crowd Pleaser" won the audiences hearts over

 

  The 2006/2007 Pageant:

The competition started with

eight girls between the ages of

12 and 17. They were judged by

professionals in the areas of

academics,community

awareness,talent, and fashion

expression. Over 200 members

of the community watched the

girls compete. Various vendors

donated prizes, which went into

gift baskets for every

participant. The pageant was a

success because it was free,

which made entry more

accessible to lower income

families. Moreover, it is one of

the most unique pageants ever..

no swimsuits, no beauty

standards, or previous

experience was needed. All you

had to do was love yourself, and

your community.
